Schengen is an area in Europe consisting of 26 countries that have abolished passport and any other type of border control at their mutual borders. The Schengen Agreement, which was signed in 1985, allows citizens to move freely between the countries without any restrictions. This agreement has been a great success as it has made travelling within the Schengen area much easier and more convenient for its citizens. The Schengen zone also provides a great opportunity for businesses to expand their operations across borders without having to worry about additional paperwork or bureaucracy. With its efficient infrastructure, the Schengen area is an attractive destination for tourists, businesses and investors alike.

Documents required for a tourist visa:

  • Passport: You must have a valid passport with at least two blank pages and a validity of at least three months beyond the planned departure date.
  • Schengen visa application form: You will need to fill out a visa application form, which can usually be downloaded from the website of the embassy or consulate of the Schengen country you plan to visit.
  • Passport-sized photo: You will need to provide one recent passport-sized photograph, taken within the last three months.
  • Travel itinerary: You will need to provide a detailed itinerary of your travel plans in the Schengen area.
  • Proof of accommodation: You will need to provide proof of accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in the Schengen area.
  • Proof of financial means: You will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in the Schengen area.
  • Travel insurance: You will need to provide proof of travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros for medical expenses, emergency hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • Proof of employment or studies: You may be required to provide proof of employment or studies in your home country to demonstrate ties to your home country and intention to return.
  • Flight reservation: You may be required to provide a flight reservation or itinerary showing your entry and exit dates from the Schengen area.
